Does TripEvenly move money?
No. TripEvenly keeps track of who paid what and who owes whom. You settle up however you like (e-Transfer, cash, card), then record it in TripEvenly.
Do expenses have to be split evenly?
No. “Evenly” is where everyone ends up: square. Along the way you can split equally, by percent, by exact amounts, or item by item, between just the people involved.
Does everyone need an account?
No. Only the person who creates the space signs up. Everyone else opens the space link, enters the space password, and picks their name.
What does it cost?
Tracking trips, splitting expenses and settling up are free. AI receipt scanning is an optional add-on: each scan uses $0.25 CAD of prepaid credit. Your first space gets 5 free scans once you confirm your email. Add credit in amounts of $5.00, $10.00 or $20.00. It never expires. A scan that fails is refunded.
What if we run out of scanning credit?
Everything keeps working. You can still attach receipt photos and type the details in yourself.
Is it an app?
It’s a website that works like an app. Add it to your home screen on iPhone or Android for a full-screen app, or use it in any browser on your computer.
Can we pay in different currencies?
Yes. Each expense keeps the currency it was paid in. The daily exchange rate converts it to your trip’s home currency, and you can override the rate to match your card statement.
Who can see our trips?
Only people with your space link and password (or an invite you sent). A receipt is sent to our AI provider to be read only when you choose to scan it.
